Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.  Be of the same mind toward one another.  Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble.  Do not be wise in your own opinion.  ~Roman 12:15-16

Today, Lord, give me the ability to push my troubles temporarily aside.  As you give me the comforting words to say to a friend in distress.  Lord, I also ask that you give me the words to pray for the homeless everywhere.

Lord it is easy to take your blessings for granted when personal wants are fulfilled.  It’s easy to forget about those that are sincerely in need as long as personal needs are being met.

Heavenly Father, this morning I’m praying that you touch the hearts of those that are blessed with a roof over their heads, food in their stomachs, clothes on their backs and shoes on their feet with a spirit of thanksgiving.  Lord, help them to see, myself included, how blessed we truly are despite of unachieved goals.  Help us to become steadfast in giving to the less fortunate with cheerful hearts.

Lord watch over the homeless.  Give them their next meal without question or delay.

Prayers of Black Women: Lord Teach Me How to Write

The Little Red Writing BookAll week-long I have asked God to teach me how to write.  Writing well is such an essential part of communicating effectively.  And I wish to communicate without feeling less than.

Well-any-who-how, a couple of days ago I felt guilty, again, for spending too much time on Facebook.  So, today I prayed for the Lord to help me make better use of my time.  He quickly answered my prayer!  But what I didn’t know is that He was going to make this a treasure trove day full of blessings.

What seemed as meaningless chores became nothing but inspirational moments.

As I pulled weeds and grass from flowerbeds God was spiritually blessing me.  He was giving me answers to questions I had long forgotten.  I wanted to stop my gardening chores and run in the house to grab pen and paper to write what I had learned.  But something within said, “Don’t stop!  Keep going!  Because if you stop you will not return.  Set a goal and complete that goal.”

I did everything that was shouting from within and found my hour of gardening more refreshing for my soul than the long days I have worked in my yard.

But the motivational and inspirational blessings kept coming as I entered my home and proceeded to do housework.  I would venture to write the greatest blessing for today was finding a little red book.  I would have never found it had I not been rearranging books on the bookshelves.  It was tucked underneath books I have meant to read for a year now.  The titled “The Little Red Writing Book.”

I can only assume it was a college text for one of my sons.  They seem to throw their books here and there once they’ve passed whatever class.  I, however, seem to cherish books.  So, I walk behind them picking up their discarded books and place them on my bookshelves.

I was happy to discover such a fine.  I feel like the book was indeed sent to me by God.  And He used one of my son’s to deliver it to me.  His actions answered a prayer that lay deep within my subconscious for decades; as my wish was finally whispered a few days ago.

— Prayer —

Lord, thank you for my little red book.  Please help me to understand its content.  I will cherish it always.

The Prayer’s of Black Women: Overcoming Infidelity

So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. ~Matthew 19:6

Whisper your heavenly love to the wounded soul oh Lord.  Heal broken hearts with your divine touch.

For again someone feels they have fallen short of your glory by not guarding their heart.  Lord replace their sorrow with joy.  Because in all sincerity they thought they were doing what you expected of them as spouses; and as a result of truly trusting their loved ones their hearts were broken by infidelity.

Their spouses silence, without complaint, lead them to believe all was well with the their lives as a couple and as a family.  But as infidelity deeds are and were being uncovered the illusion of perfect relationships and family units are being destroyed.

Lord, please help the victims of infidelity in this delicate moment; as you spiritually work on their companions moral values by cutting away relationship deceptions and replacing spiritual corruption with Fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Strengthen these victims Lord with your words, presence and unconditional love.  Give them the ability to forgive quickly.  As you sustain their marriage with the bonds of holy commitment.  So that both will continue nurturing a lasting matrimony.  Lord quiet inner turmoil of shame, anger, deception, hopelessness, selfishness, disappointment, lack of trust, and the feelings of loss by replacing each emotion with love and understanding.  Amen

The Prayers of Black Women: Prayer For Those That Talk Too Much

The Man With Leprosy
(Luke 5:12-14)

¹²While Jesus was in one of the town, a man came along who was covered with leprosy.  When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”  ¹³Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man.  “I am willing.” he said.  “Be Clean!”  And immediately the leprosy left him.  14Then Jesus ordered him, “Don’t tell anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.

Lord, some people talk too much because they want other’s to hear their “know it all” speeches;  then again some people talk too much because of nerves chatter; and, then, Lord, some people talk too much because of self-absorption.  But this prayer is for those that talk to much because of emotional and mental pain that overflows into their daily conversations.

Lord, help the person that is in emotional or mental pain to see that you enter into their lives everyday.  Lord help them to understand you know their spirits are filled with worries.  Let them know Lord they are no different from the man with leprosy when it comes to your unyielding love for your creation.  Lord, allow them to feel your presence; and gently convey to their spirits that you stand waiting to heal their brokenness.  Lord, give them the words to ask in prayer for guidance and healing as they create a dialogue between you and them.

I am asking for you to do these things Lord because:  I have found those that unwittingly share life experiences have been greatly wounded.  And because of their sorrows I come humbly before your Throne of Grace.  So, once again, Lord, I am asking for divine healing for those that talk too much as they try to ease their emotional and mental pains.  Lord, I ask that they find a true friend in you.  Lord, I pray that you begin to peel the layers of untold anguish from their unconscious minds.  Exposing their raw emotions for what they are as you help them to deal with each heartache privately.  For in lessening their spiritual suffering they can find hope.  And in finding hope they will find wisdom in who to share your blessings among and their tribulations with.

The Prayers of Black Women: Can You Please Help My Friend

4213264-261659-vector-illustration-of-a-breast-cancer-pink-ribbon-treeLord, I went to sleep way too early yesterday evening.  And when I woke I was at a lost.  I wasn’t sure what to do with my time.  So I began to search for a young man who was on my heart.  When I could not find him I decided to read post on my Facebook account.  And then Lord I came across the below post of a friend that is fighting cancer:

Sometimes I wish I could just close my eyes & disappear….

Lord, I responded with:  “If you could do that then I would miss you; and the world would be minus a remarkable woman. Sending you a hug from the beautiful state of Colorado.”

Lord, I don’t know the ramifications of her health challenge but you do.  I don’t know how strong her emotional and mental support system is, but you do.  And, Lord, I don’t know how supportive her medical team is, but you do.  But I do know Lord, her illness and concerns are bigger than she and I can handle, therefore, I am bringing them to you.

Please Lord, give her your courage.  I’m asking that peace be still in her life.  I’m praying that joy won’t wait to visit but that it will stop by today and continue to visit everyday.  I’m asking Lord that you give her body the strength to fight for wellness.  I’m praying Lord that you will put a joyful song in her heart; and give her unmovable faith in your abilities.  I’m praying for her medical team.  I’m asking Lord that she has the best doctor’s in her state, city, or town giving her medical attention.  I’m asking Lord that she has favor with each medical staff that comes across her path.  I’m asking for emotional blessings for her family, friends, and loved ones.  I’m asking Lord that you please hold her hand and let her know you are walking with her on this journey.  And most of all I’m asking that she no longer wants to close her eyes and disappear.

Love,
Annette

P.S.

Lord, I sharing one of my favorite songs with those that need to hear something spiritually uplifting.

The Prayers of Black Women: A Kiss from Heaven

4213264-261659-vector-illustration-of-a-breast-cancer-pink-ribbon-treeYesterday a friend posted on Facebook she had to cut her long beautiful hair.  Apparently this has been a year that has tried her soul.  Medically she has opted for chemo and feels she is hanging onto life as she knows it.

Within her personal message she wrote she didn’t want us to feel sorry for her; but it is hard to be joyful when your friend is fighting to live.  It is even harder to be joyful when the illnesses of others make you question your own mortality.  So today I wrote a prayer for her and it is called “A Kiss from Heaven.”

A Kiss from Heaven

A kiss from Heaven is what I prayed for you.
I wanted you to know that God will see you through.
He knew you would lose your hair,
But a kiss from Heaven will show His care.

A kiss from Heaven is what I prayed for you.
I asked for God to kiss you at half-passed two.
God said He has already kissed you
And I know His kiss will heal you too.

A kiss from Heaven is what I ask for God to do,
So you will see His love shining through.
I asked that He give your skin a glow
So you will know He still runs the show.

A kiss from Heaven is what I prayed for you.
When I felt you might become a tad thin too.
I want God to let you know you are going to win,
Because He gives you courage from within.

A kiss from Heaven is what I prayed for you.
So when you feel down with sorrow
I want God to let you know He holds your tomorrows.
A kiss from Heaven is what I’m praying for you.

The Prayers of Black Women: I Just Want To Thank You Lord

Lord thank you for all you’ve done for me!  Yes!  You have kept me and your mercies have been new every morning.

Lord, this morning I’m praying for those that are lonely in spirit, for those that are losing hope, for those that have lost hope, for those that are hungry not only for natural food but spiritual food as well.  I’m praying for those that have been evicted, for those that have lost their homes to foreclosure or short-sale.  I’m praying for those that have lost their jobs or means of financial support.  I’m praying for those that have lost their transportation.  Lord, I’m praying for those that have been victimized by the greed of other’s.  I’m praying for young men and women that feel they are not loved.  I’m praying Lord that you will show the young [and old] your unconditional love.  I’m praying for those that are alcoholics this morning.  I’m praying for the families that have drugged addicted grand-parents, parents, children, and family members.  I’m praying for those that are hooked on drugs.  I’m praying for parents that have lost their children to death.  I’m praying for the grieving husbands and wives that have also lost their spouses to death.  I’m praying for those that are grieving the loss of someone.  I’m praying for those that have been newly divorced and feel void of emotions and can’t see their way clear.  Lord, I’m praying for the seen and unseen needs of those you deeply love.  Lord, I’m asking that you bring comfort to your people.

I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten– the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm — my great army that I sent among you.  ~Joel 2.25

The Prayer’s of Black Women: Staying On Your Path

Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy. ~Deuteronomy 5:33

Speak to my heart Lord.  Your words have commanded me to follow a path you have divinely paved only for me.  Help me Lord to stay on my path when the storms of life are raging, when I can’t see my way clear from the dust and I must walk alone.  Give me your strength to journey on by giving me faith to believe in you; and hope by knowing I will live long and have a prosperous life in the land I will enter and occupy.  Amen.

Let us not therefore judge one another any more:  but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

Romans 14:13

Lord thank you for this day we have never seen before.  Everything within this day is new.  This day has started with no mistakes; it has given those that believe in you a new hope.

Lord this prayer concerns mans inhumanity to man.  Lord it feels as if the spirit of compassion has been taken from most parents, thus, leaving some humans empty shells when it involves the parent to child relationships.

Therefore, prayer is being offered for parents that can’t unconditionally love, provide, guide, protect and parent with friendly intentions their children. Lord, please help those parents understand that children are weak by comparison because they are kids.  Lord, please help those parents to understand that children are given to us to love, nurture and guide into adulthood.  Lord help those parents to understand everyone comes with challenges.  Lord help those parents to understand that everyone has an adulterous spirit.  For your words clearly say’s in John 8:7:  “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”

Lord please show these parents when they parent without compassion they are putting stumblingblocks in their children’s path.

Prayers of Black Women: More Than We Can Bear

ImageLord, please help!

The American nation is torn over the outcome of the Zimmerman and Martin case.  Some people are upset because they feel justice has not prevail; other’s, Lord, are upset because they feel blacks are trying to turn the killing of an African-American teen into a public uncivil racial state of affairs.

Lord, I’m not sure what went wrong on that dreary rainy night Trayvon took his last breath.  Nor can I comprehend the logic behind the verdict after hearing not all but key parts of how the confrontation began.

But as a black woman that has endured racial prejudices I do know this . . . You will never give anyone, from any race, more than they can bear.

Therefore, Lord, I am asking you to make this storm over a loss of life and the preservation of life between those that are directly, indirectly and those that are not involved with this killing at peace.  Because today Lord somewhere in America there are parents that are crying with grief concerning the senseless death of their son, as another set of parents Lord somewhere in America is rejoicing their son was found not-guilty.  As a nation of people search for, or demand, answers for a not-guilty verdict five women made for reason unknown to the public.  Lord, I truly ask that you comfort all.

And though Zimmerman has been found not-guilty his life and the lives of his family will never be the same.

For you and Zimmerman hold the truth as to what took place on a night he should have refrained from exiting his home with a gun.

Sadly, Lord, no one understands soon Zimmerman will learn he is free in body but he will never be free in mind, spirit and soul.  He will live with the fact that he took a life.  A life he did not give, a life that was not his to take, a life that never had the chance to live to see manhood because the owner of that life was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and in the silence of his mind Zimmerman will always remember he alone was responsible for taking that life.

Lord, I pray that you reveal the truth about what happened that night.  Because I believe someone heard or saw the horrific acts that took place.  I believe Lord this person is scared to come forth.  So I’m praying that you will give them a spirit of conviction that will fill their consciousness with relentless reminders they can set the record(s) straight for a teen that lost his voice in death.  I’m praying Lord that you will give them your spirit of courage to come forth and tell what truly happened on the night a young man was gun-down for youthfully walking in the rain.  I’m praying Lord that once this person comes forth that you will make American people accept the truthful words of not only an ear witness but an eyewitness of the account that left one person dead and another fighting to remain free.  And in accepting truths as they are being told may the American people allow your justice to take place.

I’m not praying this prayer for your justice to prevail because some perceive the case as a white on black crime, or as others may see it as a black on white crime; but because the fragile American nation is torn behind the verdict rendered.

With that said, Lord, It is amazing how people have lost faith in this matter.  Lord they have forgotten that you are God.  You sit high and you look low.  Only the foolish believe that Zimmerman has gotten away with selfishly taking a life.  But I believe true justice will be served if a crime has been committed despite any law including the “stand your grounds” law.  Lord, I profess and believe that your laws override man’s law.  I also believe when we commit a sin we either pay now or we pay during judgment day in the hereafter. Thus, Zimmerman punishment may not happen today, it might not happen tomorrow, it probably won’t happen within a year, but, I know for sure you will expose the truth in your time and justice will be served and in-turn redeem the name of the slain if a crime has been committed.

So once again, Lord, I’m asking that you give the person that saw this incident a spirit of conviction.  Let them not rest until their soul is satisfied that they have done what is humanly right concerning Zimmerman and Martin’s altercation as they allow the laws of God “thou shalt not kill” and “a life for a life” to judiciously prevail.
