So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. ~Matthew 19:6

Whisper your heavenly love to the wounded soul oh Lord.  Heal broken hearts with your divine touch.

For again someone feels they have fallen short of your glory by not guarding their heart.  Lord replace their sorrow with joy.  Because in all sincerity they thought they were doing what you expected of them as spouses; and as a result of truly trusting their loved ones their hearts were broken by infidelity.

Their spouses silence, without complaint, lead them to believe all was well with the their lives as a couple and as a family.  But as infidelity deeds are and were being uncovered the illusion of perfect relationships and family units are being destroyed.

Lord, please help the victims of infidelity in this delicate moment; as you spiritually work on their companions moral values by cutting away relationship deceptions and replacing spiritual corruption with Fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Strengthen these victims Lord with your words, presence and unconditional love.  Give them the ability to forgive quickly.  As you sustain their marriage with the bonds of holy commitment.  So that both will continue nurturing a lasting matrimony.  Lord quiet inner turmoil of shame, anger, deception, hopelessness, selfishness, disappointment, lack of trust, and the feelings of loss by replacing each emotion with love and understanding.  Amen

The Prayer’s of Black Women: Staying On Your Path

Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy. ~Deuteronomy 5:33

Speak to my heart Lord.  Your words have commanded me to follow a path you have divinely paved only for me.  Help me Lord to stay on my path when the storms of life are raging, when I can’t see my way clear from the dust and I must walk alone.  Give me your strength to journey on by giving me faith to believe in you; and hope by knowing I will live long and have a prosperous life in the land I will enter and occupy.  Amen.

Inspirational Fridays: Lack of Kindness Can Come With A Cost . . .

Okay!  I am a day late posting my message for Inspirational Friday’s but here it is!  I found this story and it was untitled so I gave it a title today.  I felt it was like a beautiful baby wanting to be affirmed by words of acceptance.  It packs a powerful message about being blessed regardless of bad attitudes.

This is from an old story, back in the ’30s, in the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less. A 10 year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.

“How much is an ice cream sundae?” the little boy asked.

“Fifty cents,” replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied the coins he had. “Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?” he inquired.

By now, more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing very impatient. “Thirty-five cents,” she brusquely replied.

The little boy again counted his coins. “I’ll have the plain ice cream,” he said.

The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress came back, she began to cry. As she wiped down the table, there placed neatly beside the empty dish were two nickels and five pennies. You see, he couldn’t have the sundae because he had to have enough money to leave her a tip.

Inspirational Fridays: Letting Go vs. Moving On

Claiming What’s Yours

You need to claim the events of your life to make yourself yours.  When you truly possess all you have been and done, which may take same time, you are fierce with reality.  –Florida Pier Scott-Maxwell

It takes a long time to understand the difference between letting go and moving on, especially if you try to bypass the transitions following life-altering change.  Most women believe we can avoid transitions by becoming very busy.  “Waiting, done at really high speeds, will frequently look like something else,” observes Carrie Fisher hopefully.  Its’ called multitasking.  How often do we use the congestion and sheer occupation of our days to anesthetize ourselves against emotion, thought, and action?  When I make myself busy and permit the activities swirling around me to grab my attention, I tell myself over and over that I can’t think today about the choices I should be making or mourn what my heart is begging my brain to remember.  Call it the Scarlett Syndrome.  I’ll think about that tomorrow.  I’ll grieve over that tomorrow.  After all, tomorrow is another day.  “Life must go on,” Edna St. Vincent Millay Wrote, “I forget just why.”

Inspirational Fridays: Guy In The Glass Poem

(1895-1954)

When you get what you want in your struggle for pelf,
And the world makes you King for a day,
Then go to the mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that guy has to say.

For it isn’t your Father, or Mother, or Wife,
Who judgement upon you must pass.
The feller whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the guy staring back from the glass.

He’s the feller to please, never mind all the rest,
For he’s with you clear up to the end,
And you’ve passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the guy in the glass is your friend.

You may be like Jack Horner and “chisel” a plum,
And think you’re a wonderful guy,
But the man in the glass says you’re only a bum
If you can’t look him straight in the eye.

You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years,
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you’ve cheated the guy in the glass.

Unleashing Your Potential

An endless stream of messages, tasks and events will try to lure us from what God has called us to do.

As unique as God’s children are, so will the unique experiences that will aim to distract us from the business at hand.

Only if we have set our priorities and realize the significance of what we are doing for God’s greater glory, can we keep on keeping on.

We can then stay on course.

Are Women Human? by Sarah Ban Breathnach

We are not human beings trying to be spiritual.  We are spiritual beings trying to be human. ~ Jacquelyn Small

Whether women were human fascinated the English writer D. H. Lawrence, who often explored this conundrum in his work.  “Man is willing to accept women as an equal, as a man in skirts, as an angel, a devil, a baby face, a machine, an instrument, a bosom, a womb, a pair of legs, a servant, and encyclopedia, and ideal or an obscenity; the one thing he won’t accept her as is a human being, a real human being of the feminine sex.”

Perhaps the reason men find it so difficult to accept women as human beings is because we’re not, and deep down everyone knows it.  But often women forget their Divinity as they go about their daily round.  How often do we excuse ourselves with the expression, “well, I’m only human.”

No, you’re not, and neither am I.  We forget we’re spiritual beings appearing for a brief span on this planet as humans.  I certainly forgot that this morning when my daughter stayed home from school because she’s sick.  Again.  In a little while, I’ll have to take her to the doctor for a strep test and my entire work day will have been disrupted.  I’m frustrated and angry; not at Katie—at real life, at deadlines.  But did she realize that, when I rolled my eyes at the thought of another day gone awry?  I don’t think so.

Spiritual beings do not sweat real life’s small stuff.  They also know that most of what drives us crazy in real life is small stuff.  The only thing that isn’t small stuff is the reason you’re on earth in the first place:  to find that portion of the world’s lost heart that only you can ransom with your love and authentic gifts and then return it, so that all of us can experience Wholeness.

A spiritual being knows that the work will be waiting for her when she gets back from the doctor’s office.  A spiritual being knows that there is no such thing as a deadline.  Deadlines are chronos, the world’s time; Divinity knows only kairos, Eternity.  The being knows that the only thing that’s not small stuff today is caring fro and comforting a sick child.

This spiritual being might have also known that this morning if she’d taken five minutes to center herself.

Scripture tells us that men were created a little above the angels.  But don’t ever forget that women were the climax of the Spirit’s creativity cycle.  After woman was created, Wisdom realized there was no need to proceed further:  this superior being would save the world.

Big things are expected of us.

As for me, there’s a lost heart that needs to be ransomed by a spiritual being trying to be human.
