Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. Matthew 6:9 – 13
Lord thank you for my life. Thank you for today. Today, Lord, I ask that you bring calmness to my spirit. My soul needs spiritual peace to finish overdue task today. Amen
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Matthew 6:1
The other day I wanted to pray and needed to pray the Lord’s Prayer. Sadly I could only remember a few lines of the only perfect prayer in the world. It was then I said to self I would recite the Lord’s Prayer daily until I learn it again. So I invite those of you that follow Christ to walk with me as I relearn a prayer that will be my foundation for conversing with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and heaven.
So far today God, I have done all right. I haven’t gossiped. I haven’t lost my temper, and haven’t been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or over-indulgent. And I haven’t told anyone to mind his own business and stay out of mine. I’m really glad about that.
But in a few minutes, God, I’m going to get out of bed; and from then on I’m probably going to need a lot of help. ~Author Unknown
Lord, my prayer today is for women that have given their children up for adoption. Please comfort their hearts in knowing they made the right choice. Please let them know that it’s not for others to say who should keep their child or who should give their child to another. Please let them know that it is stronger woman than I that can bless another family with the gift of life. Lord, please help the adoptive parent(s) receive their precious gifts with understanding of the sacrifices made for them to be parents. Please guide the adoptive parent(s) on their journey so the birth mother’s parental sacrifice is not in vain. Amen.
You are still alive, so live. Don’t just exist. Don’t just breathe in and out. Don’t just go through the motions. LIVE! And just because you make that choice to live, it doesn’t mean your not still grieving. There is no “getting over it”. I like to think of it as moving through it. The pain is still there. It still hurts as bad as the first days sometimes. The void in your life is always there. The loss is there whether there are tears in your eyes or a smile on your face. ~Leslie Wachter McDonald
Lord this morning I’m praying for the grieving hearts. Why? Because the saddest acts of unkindness among those that have lost or that are losing a loved one is always heart wrenching. Sadly the sorrowful bring their grieving strife to others to sort. And in the midst of seeking comfort of their loss or losses they are usually exploited. So this morning Lord I lift the grieving hearts to you.
First, Lord, I’m requesting with a sincere and humble heart that you put them under your protection. I’m asking Lord that you will put a salve of comfort over their wounded minds. I’m asking Lord that you will bring compassion in their midst for those that are grieving the same loss. I’m asking Lord that you bring an understanding to each of their acts of judgment. But most of all, Lord, let your presence be known so that finalization of their dead earthly possessions can be carried out with private dignity. Amen
Lord, someone is low in spirits today. It seems as if their mental and emotional wheels are stuck in the mud and they can’t move. Everyday they wake to the challenge of overcoming sadness. Please help them to get going this morning. Please give them a reason to smile in the midst of adverse situations. Please help them create and put in motion healthy life plans to live happier lives. Amen
Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. ~Roman 12:15-16
Today, Lord, give me the ability to push my troubles temporarily aside. As you give me the comforting words to say to a friend in distress. Lord, I also ask that you give me the words to pray for the homeless everywhere.
Lord it is easy to take your blessings for granted when personal wants are fulfilled. It’s easy to forget about those that are sincerely in need as long as personal needs are being met.
Heavenly Father, this morning I’m praying that you touch the hearts of those that are blessed with a roof over their heads, food in their stomachs, clothes on their backs and shoes on their feet with a spirit of thanksgiving. Lord, help them to see, myself included, how blessed we truly are despite of unachieved goals. Help us to become steadfast in giving to the less fortunate with cheerful hearts.
Lord watch over the homeless. Give them their next meal without question or delay.
Lord, I have read and heard a lot this week. Many of those stories made me feel like I was traveling through a portal of stupidity. Often I found myself asking the following questions: Lord, is my thinking off track? Or are people now enjoying conflict? And why are they enjoying being hoodwinked? What is making them so gullible? And why can’t they see they are being invalidated?
Lord, as I sat in bewilderment over the troubles of the world, I asked, yet, another question, “Where is common sense?” Has it left the world? Has it found a hiding place? Is it sad because humankind no longer has a need for it? Lord, where is common sense? Because as I see things, who would enjoy heartaches, trials and tribulations?
Nothing I read or heard this week made any sense at all except for: “Something that sounds correct could be incorrect.”
— Prayer —
Lord, please bless the world with common sense. For without it mankind will become void in all their ways. So, again, please Lord bless the world with common sense. Amen
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5
Artist: Henry Lee Battle
Dear Lord:
Your word says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” My prayer today is about what does it mean to trust in you? Or should I pray for answers to the following questions: How does a person trust in you Lord? Does this passage support our free will ? And how does it support common sense?
Lord my questions are not original (although I wish they were). But many before me have asked the same during moments of spiritual isolation. And, sadly, so many after me will pose the same question(s) during moments of uncertainty. So, Lord, again, I ask what does it mean to trust in you? Because sometimes Lord I’m afraid those that believe in you fail to know what it means to truly trust in you.
And for that reason Lord, I am asking that you help us to know what you mean in this passage. Help us to merge the wisdom of God with our instinct to spiritually and physically survive. Help us to refrain from blaming you when things don’t go as planned and according to our interpretation of your words. Help us to accept defeat as well as our victories during moments of spiritual growth. So, Lord, I ask again, help us to truly know what it means to trust in you. Amen.
