Gold-framed glass hourglass filled with sand on a wooden table

Hello from Colorado, where the peaks are tall, and my perspective is firmly set on the horizon of Eternity! Today is Friday, August 21, 2026, and my faith is permanently secured in Christ Jesus!

Before I get into today’s message, I owe my readers a sincere apology. I somehow convinced myself that I had already published Wednesday’s post and was preparing to publish Thursday’s today. Well…that didn’t happen! Life had other plans. I’ve been dealing with a personal women’s health issue that required my attention, and honestly, it has been an emotional experience.

Part of what made it difficult was my concern about being misdiagnosed. As a Black woman, I am very aware that some health conditions affecting Black women have historically been overlooked, misunderstood, or diagnosed differently. So while I was dealing with the issue itself, I was also wrestling with the question of whether I was being properly heard and understood. That experience reminded me just how valuable our time, our health, and our peace really are.

So, let’s get back to our series.

We have reached the middle of our week, and today’s message is a sobering reminder to look at the math of our lives. We spend so much time protecting our money, our property, and our possessions. We lock our doors, secure our accounts, and become upset when someone tries to take what belongs to us. But there is something far more valuable than silver or gold that we give away every single day without always realizing it.

We are giving away our time.

Money can be lost and earned again. Homes can be rebuilt. Material things can be replaced. But time is different. Once a minute passes, it is gone forever. We cannot buy it back, manufacture more of it, or negotiate for an extension. Sometimes a crisis has a way of making that truth impossible to ignore. Suddenly, we realize just how quickly life can change and how precious every day really is.

Too many of us spend valuable hours trying to fix people who don’t want to change, arguing with people who have already decided not to listen, worrying about what others think, or allowing toxic situations to consume our peace. I’ve done it, too. But at some point, we have to ask ourselves a difficult question: How much of my life am I willing to give away to things that will not matter in the end?

Your time is part of your life. Every minute you spend trapped in unnecessary arguments, toxic relationships, bitterness, resentment, or someone else’s chaos is a minute you will never get back. That doesn’t mean we ignore problems or walk away from people who genuinely need us. It means we learn to recognize the difference between what deserves our attention and what is simply stealing our peace.

So today, I want to encourage you to protect your time as fiercely as you protect your possessions. Set boundaries. Stop explaining yourself to people who have no intention of understanding you. Stop allowing every critic, conflict, and crisis to have unlimited access to your mind. Give your attention to God, your family, your purpose, your health, and the people and responsibilities that truly matter.

Life is too short to spend it fighting battles that were never yours to fight.

Your time is your life. Spend it wisely, protect your peace, and make your minutes count.

Although this post is being published on Friday, it is still our Wednesday installment in this week’s series. I missed Wednesday and Thursday while dealing with a personal matter, so we’ll continue from here and bring this week’s series to a close on Sunday.

The Takeaway for Us

  • The Non-Renewable Asset: Time is the only commodity we cannot recover once lost. We must audit how we spend our minutes.
  • The Cost of Confrontation: One learns that engaging with toxic, blind people is an expensive waste of life. Peace is preserved when we refuse to pay with our time.
  • Vapor-Life Perspective: A believer understands that our time on earth is brief. Keeping an eternal perspective forces us to cut out the background noise and cherish the present.

Community Challenge

Look back at your last 48 hours. How many minutes did you lose to stress, scrolling through negative content, or stressing over the actions of toxic people? This Wednesday, I challenge you to shift your paradigm and guard your clock. What is one petty argument, toxic thread, or unhelpful distraction you are going to completely block out today so you can reclaim your precious time?

Scripture & Prayer

  • Scripture: “Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am. Behold, thou hast made my days as a handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee.” — Psalm 39:4-5 (KJV)
  • Prayer: Father, thank You for the gift of this day—a day I can never repeat or buy back. Forgive me for the hours I have squandered on anxiety, petty digital noise, and trying to change people who choose blindness. Teach me to number my days so that I may apply my heart unto wisdom. Give me the strength to fiercely protect my time, to focus on my eternal purpose, and to invest my life into what truly matters. Amen.

The Spiritual Seal

Remember: Your time belongs to God and your loved one—not to the storm, and definitely not to your critics. Close the door on the noise, hold your peace tightly, and make every second count! Have a powerful, intentional Friday—see you tomorrow!

I’m Annette

Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

This is a space for the ‘unspoken’ stories. As a Black woman who has journeyed through childhood trauma and family alienation to find healing in God’s grace, I know what it’s like to feel lost in the shadows.

But I also know the light on the other side. Today, my life is a testimony of prayer, the joy of a second chance in marriage, and the strength of a heart reclaimed by faith. Whether you are healing from the past, navigating a diverse family, or deepening your walk with God—you are not alone. Let’s walk this path together.
