Steaming tea beside an open Bible and leather journal

Hello from Colorado, where the mountains remind me every morning that God is real and that He loves beauty, too. Today is Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and my faith is permanently secured in Christ Jesus!

I love waking up to mountain views. There is something about looking out and seeing those majestic peaks that reminds me that beauty doesn’t happen by accident. The mountains are there whether I can see them or not. Recently, however, the outlines of those beautiful peaks were difficult to see because of the haze created by the forest fires burning throughout the region. Even though we received some much-needed rain, it wasn’t heavy enough to completely clear the air. I could look toward the mountains and know they were there, even when I couldn’t see them clearly. And honestly, that has become another reminder of faith for me. Sometimes God’s presence feels as clear as those mountain peaks on a crisp Colorado morning. Other times, the circumstances of life create a haze that makes it difficult to see Him clearly. But just because I cannot see Him doesn’t mean He isn’t there.

Yesterday, we discussed clarity checkpoints and how sudden storms can strip away the superficial background noise of life. Today, we’re diving into one of the hardest, yet sometimes most necessary, adjustments a person can make during a difficult season: the decision to put a dream on hold. In a society that constantly tells us to hustle, chase titles, reach the next milestone, and keep pushing forward at all costs, stepping away from a personal goal can feel completely counterintuitive. We may worry that if we pause, we’re failing, falling behind, or somehow wasting our potential.

But true maturity includes knowing when to press pause for what matters most.

Sometimes life requires us to intentionally step out of the race. It might mean walking away from an educational program, putting a career milestone on hold, postponing a business venture, or changing personal plans because someone we love needs us. From the outside, this may look like a setback. But sometimes what looks like a delay can become a season of refinement, reflection, and preparation. The waiting room of life is not necessarily empty space. It can become a place where our priorities are examined, our character is strengthened, and our relationship with God grows deeper.

There are seasons when moving forward means continuing to pursue the dream. And there are other seasons when moving forward means having the courage to stop, listen, and recognize what matters most right now. Putting a dream on hold to protect, love, or serve your family is not automatically a failure. Sometimes it is an expression of love and wisdom. A dream can wait. A title can wait. A milestone can wait. But some moments with the people we love cannot be recreated once they have passed.

We live in a world that celebrates constant movement, but God can do some of His deepest work in the waiting. A pause doesn’t necessarily mean the dream is dead. It may simply mean that the timing, the priorities, or even the direction needs to change.

So if you find yourself in a waiting season today, don’t be so quick to label it a setback. Take a breath. Look at what is in front of you. Ask God what this season is teaching you and what He wants you to see. The dream may still be there when the season changes, just as those Colorado mountains remain there even when smoke, haze, or clouds temporarily hide them from view.

Sometimes the mountain hasn’t moved. You just can’t see it yet. Keep trusting God while you wait.

The Takeaway for Us

  • The Power of the Pause: One recognizes that pausing a goal for a higher moral assignment is a sign of strength, not weakness. Success is measured by obedience, not speed.
  • The Waiting Room Refinement: One learns that God uses seasons of holding to strip away pride and self-reliance. True character is built when we are out of the spotlight.
  • Prioritizing the Permanent: A believer understands that careers and titles are temporary, but family and love are eternal investments. We must always protect the permanent over the passing.

Community Challenge

Are you fighting against a season where God is asking you to pause, slow down, or put something on hold? Are you feeling guilty because you can’t chase your goals at full speed right now? This Tuesday, I challenge you to upgrade your outlook. Stop treating the pause as a punishment. What is one area where you need to surrender your timeline to God today and fully show up for the people who need you right now?

Scripture & Prayer

  • Scripture: “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.” — Psalm 37:7 (KJV)
  • Prayer: Father, thank You for holding my future securely in Your hands. Forgive me for the times I have panicked when my plans were interrupted, fearing that a delay meant a defeat. Give me the grace to rest in Your timing. If You have called me into a season of putting dreams on hold for the sake of my family, fill my heart with peace and absolute clarity. Teach me the deep lessons of the waiting room and help me invest my time where it truly matters today. Amen.

The Spiritual Seal

Remember: A delayed dream is not a denied destiny. God knows exactly where you are, and He can restore in a single day what took years to build. Trust His timing, honor your family, and rest in His peace! Have a beautiful Tuesday—see you tomorrow!
