Black Women Have It Going On

Hello from Colorado, where the peaks are tall and my perspective is firmly set on the horizon of Eternity! Today is Wednesday, August 12, 2026, and my faith is permanently secured in Christ Jesus!

We are moving right along through our look at the mechanics of spiritual survival. On Monday, we learned to set our wings. On Tuesday, we refused to hide in the mud. Today, we have to face a very real, and sometimes lonely, part of the journey: the reality of the solitary flight. When you finally decide to rise above the chaos, manipulation, and background noise of this world, you quickly realize that the higher you go, the thinner the crowd gets.

You cannot fly at a higher elevation with a low-ground crew.

In the natural world, when storms rage, many birds seek shelter together, responding to danger in ways that help them survive. But the eagle has become a powerful picture of another kind of response. Rather than allowing the storm to dictate its direction, it can rise above the turbulence and gain a different perspective. It doesn’t need a committee to validate where it is going. There are times when the journey upward requires leaving the familiar behind and learning to navigate from a higher vantage point.

Spiritually, breaking free from systemic abuse, manipulation, or toxic environments can require this exact same shift. As an ever-growing student of the Word who loves to dig deeply into Scripture and verify truth for myself, I am constantly seeing how God calls individuals into separate seasons where He can build their strength, deepen their understanding, and prepare them for what is ahead. When you change your perspective, the people who are comfortable living in the mud may not understand your departure. They might call you arrogant, selfish, or even disloyal because you refuse to remain trapped in the same storm with them.

But you must protect your spiritual trajectory.

If you are going to think on a higher level, you have to accept that your flight will sometimes feel solitary. Do not look for validation from people who cannot see what God is showing you. Everyone will not understand the freedom you are walking into, and everyone does not need to understand it. Sometimes, protecting your peace and remaining obedient to God means creating distance from people, places, and patterns that continually pull you back into the very environment you are trying to escape.

If you have to walk away from the crowd to keep your spirit uncompromised, do it with your head held high and your heart anchored in God. But remember this: solitude does not mean abandonment. There is a difference between being separated from people and being separated from God. God never leaves you truly alone in the high places. He can use the quiet of the solitary flight to speak deeply to your heart, strengthen your faith, sharpen your discernment, and make your spiritual wings unshakeable.

Sometimes, the higher God calls you, the fewer people will understand the altitude.

Don’t be afraid of the solitary flight. Sometimes, God separates you from the crowd because He is preparing you for where He is taking you.

Look around at the people you are relying on for validation right now. Are they helping you set your wings, or are they pulling you back down into the drama and gossip of the storm? This Wednesday, I challenge you to elevate your paradigm. Embrace the quiet. What is one toxic conversation or group dynamic you need to fly away from today so you can focus entirely on your spiritual growth?
