Black Women Have It Going On

Hello from Colorado, where the peaks are tall and my perspective is firmly set on the horizon of Eternity! Today is Friday, August 14, 2026, and my faith is permanently secured in Christ Jesus!

We have officially reached the end of our weekly journey studying the anatomy of a soaring eagle. Together, we have learned to set our wings, refuse the mud, embrace the solitary flight, and stop exhausting ourselves by trying to do everything in our own strength. We’ve learned that sometimes the greatest act of faith is not fighting harder, but trusting God enough to let Him carry us through what we cannot control. Today, we arrive at the final destination of our ascent: the clear skies above the clouds.

When you choose to live at a higher spiritual elevation, your perspective begins to change. The storm may still be there, but it no longer has the same power over you. You can see the clouds, hear the thunder, and recognize that the rain is still falling, but you are no longer allowing the chaos around you to dictate what is happening within you. The circumstances may not have changed, but your position has.

In the natural world, birds can use rising air currents to gain altitude and move above or around turbulent weather. For me, that becomes a beautiful spiritual picture. There are times when we spend so much energy staring at the storm that we forget there is a sky above it. We become consumed by the dark clouds, the noise, the uncertainty, and everything happening around us. But when God begins to elevate our perspective, we realize that the storm was never the whole story.

Spiritually, reaching a greater level of maturity changes how you interact with the world around you. When you talk to people across all levels of thinking, you realize that many remain trapped in drama, gossip, manipulation, and constant conflict because they are continually reacting to every storm that passes through their lives. Every drop of rain demands their attention. Every flash of lightning requires a response. Every clap of thunder pulls them into another battle.

But as an ever-growing student of theology, and someone who once pursued a Master of Divinity, I may not have completed the degree, but my hunger to understand the Word of God never ended. I still fiercely study Scripture, open my Bible to seek His face, and dig deeply into the Word to verify truth for myself. And one thing I continue to learn is that God has not called us to be controlled by the weather of this life. We may not be able to determine when the storms come, but through Him, we can learn how to respond to them without allowing them to destroy our peace.

When you truly begin to shift your perspective, you stop allowing every toxic argument, manipulative person, or chaotic situation to pull you back into a place God has already brought you out of. You learn that not every battle requires your participation. Not every accusation deserves an explanation. Not every person deserves access to your peace. Sometimes spiritual maturity looks like knowing when to rise above the noise and keep your eyes fixed on God.

The peace of God is not necessarily the absence of a storm. Sometimes, it is the supernatural ability to remain anchored while the storm is raging around you. You can acknowledge the rain without becoming the rain. You can see the clouds without allowing them to convince you that the sun has disappeared. You can recognize the chaos without allowing it to take residence in your spirit.

That is what this week’s journey has really been about. Set your wings. Don’t hide in the mud. Don’t be afraid of the solitary flight. Stop exhausting yourself trying to carry everything in your own strength. And when God gives you the elevation to see beyond the storm, don’t come back down simply because someone else is still comfortable living underneath the clouds.

The storm may still be happening below you, but it does not have to control the atmosphere within you.

Keep your eyes on God. Keep your faith anchored in His Word. Keep your perspective fixed on Eternity.

The storm may be beneath you, but God’s peace can still be within you. Rise above the clouds and stay there.

The Takeaway for Us

• The Boundlessness of Peace: One recognizes that true spiritual peace exists above the crisis, not in the absence of it. The storm only has power over you if you stay at its level.
• A Shift in Altitudes: One learns that breaking through the dark clouds requires persistence. We must continue to climb until the noise of our abusers and critics fades into silence.
• The View from the Top: A believer understands that from a higher perspective, the problems of the world look incredibly small. In the sunlight of Christ, the lies of the enemy lose all their power.

Look back at the week behind you. Have you allowed the low-altitude noise of toxic relationships, manipulation, or background stress to dictate your mood? This Friday, I challenge you to make a final paradigm shift. Choose to break through the ceiling today. What is one petty argument or dark cloud you need to completely rise above so you can finally rest in the clear, sunny skies of God’s unshakeable peace?
