The Power of the Spirit vs. the Illusion of Control

Hello from Colorado, where the peaks are tall, and my perspective is finally settling into a deep, quiet truth! Today is Thursday, June 18, 2026, and my faith is securely anchored in Christ Jesus! I’m so thankful you’ve joined me today as we bring our look at the “Reversal of Fortune” to a powerful close.

Have you ever noticed that the people who scream the loudest about having power are usually the ones who feel the most powerless? When you watch the aggressive debates on the street corners, you see a desperate attempt to flex carnal muscles. It’s an effort to look tough, control the narrative, and scare people into submission using condemnation.

But that isn’t power. That is just panic dressed up in religious clothes.

Real power doesn’t look like a megaphone shouted in a stranger’s face. True spiritual authority is quiet, unshakeable, and rooted in the Holy Spirit. When Jesus walked the earth, He didn’t have to scream at people to prove He was the Son of God. He possessed a calm, steady presence that made demons tremble and storms stop.

The Hebrew Israelite doctrine traps people into thinking power means eventually getting to rule over your enemies with a rod of iron. But the Holy Spirit teaches us that true power is the ability to walk through injustice, heartbreak, and systemic pressure with your head held high, full of love, joy, and self-control. We don’t need to dominate anyone else to be powerful; we just need to let the Spirit of God dominate our hearts.

The Takeaway for Us

  • The Illusion of Dominance: One recognizes that seeking to control or intimidate others is a carnal substitute for the true, quiet authority that comes from God.
  • The Fruit of the Spirit: One sees that divine power is never weaponized to cause division or hatred. Real spiritual strength manifests as love, patience, and a sound mind.
  • Walking in True Authority: A believer learns that when your identity is secure in Christ, you don’t have to fight for respect or status. You carry the presence of the Living God inside you, and that is more than enough.

Community Challenge

Are you trying to fight your battles with carnal weapons—like anger, sharp arguments, or a desire to see others fail? This week, I challenge you to trade that heavy armor for the fruit of the Spirit. Try responding to a difficult situation or a high-pressure debate with absolute calmness and love. How does your spiritual strength shift when you rely on His Spirit instead of your own flesh?

Scripture & Prayer

  • Scripture: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
  • Prayer: Father, deliver us from the carnal desire to look powerful in the eyes of men. We step away from the shouting and the high-pressure arguments. Fill us afresh with Your Holy Spirit. Give us the supernatural strength to love our enemies, the power to overcome our past, and the clarity of a sound mind that rests entirely in Your truth. Amen.

The Spiritual Seal

Remember: You don’t need a megaphone to prove you are royalty, and you don’t need an army to prove you are victorious. True power isn’t about holding a whip; it’s about holding the peace of God in the middle of a storm.

See you tomorrow (Friday)!

I’m Annette

Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

This is a space for the ‘unspoken’ stories. As a Black woman who has journeyed through childhood trauma and family alienation to find healing in God’s grace, I know what it’s like to feel lost in the shadows.

But I also know the light on the other side. Today, my life is a testimony of prayer, the joy of a second chance in marriage, and the strength of a heart reclaimed by faith. Whether you are healing from the past, navigating a diverse family, or deepening your walk with God—you are not alone. Let’s walk this path together.
