Check the Receipts: Why God Demands Your Study Over Their Stories

Hello from Colorado, where the peaks are tall, and my perspective is finally resting on the horizon of Eternity! Today is Friday, June 26, 2026, and my faith is permanently secured in Christ Jesus! Thank you for walking with me through this entire, heavy, eye-opening month. We have officially reached the end of our journey looking at the Hebrew Israelite movement.

As we bring this series to a close, I want to leave you with the ultimate antidote to the “glazed-eye” rhetoric and internet fables we’ve discussed all month. It isn’t enough to just get upset when we see our people falling for historical foolishness or fake linguistics like the “grand rising” rumor. We have to understand why it happens: it stems from a lack of personal study.

People swallow the messenger’s bait because they haven’t personally read the manual. They accept a high-pressure presentation because they haven’t checked the historical or scriptural receipts for themselves.

But God does not expect us to blindly follow human messengers—including the ones screaming on street corners or flashing graphics on your social media feeds.

In fact, the Apostle Paul tells us exactly what our defense mechanism should be: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15).

Notice that God doesn’t say “listen to an internet video to show yourself approved.” He says study. True spiritual maturity requires us to roll up our sleeves, crack open the textbooks, read the surrounding verses, and verify the geography. When you do the work of a scriptural workman, you become completely unshakeable. You no longer get tricked by selective verses or emotional traps because you know exactly what the whole Counsel of God says. Let’s stop relying on the stories of men and start resting on the verified truth of God.

The Takeaway for Us

  • The Workman’s Duty: One recognizes that verifying history, science, and scripture is a personal responsibility. We cannot outsource our discernment to charismatic or high-pressure voices.
  • Rightly Dividing the Truth: One sees that a single verse (like Deuteronomy 28:68) must never be used to override the context of the entire Bible. Truth is consistent, logical, and stands up to intense investigation.
  • Unashamed Faith: A believer learns that there is a deep, unshakeable confidence that comes from knowing why you believe what you believe. When you know the truth, the lies lose all their power.

Community Challenge

As we step out of this series and into a new month, I challenge you to upgrade your study habits. The next time someone hands you a “secret history” link or a shocking scriptural theory, don’t pass it on and don’t accept it blindly. Go do the homework. Look at the maps. Read the whole chapter. How does your spiritual authority change when you stop repeating what you heard and start walking in what you have proven?

Scripture & Prayer

  • Scripture: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” — 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
  • Prayer: Father, thank You for the incredible gift of Your written Word. Forgive us for the times we have been spiritually lazy, accepting the opinions and manufactured myths of men without checking the scriptures ourselves. Give us the discipline to be true workmen of the Gospel. Sharpen our minds, increase our hunger for real history and sound doctrine, and let our identity always be anchored in the truth that sets us free. Amen.

The Spiritual Seal

Remember: You don’t need a middleman to tell you who you are in Christ, and you don’t need an internet rumor to give you dignity. Your approval doesn’t come from a human lineage; it comes from the finished work of Jesus. Stand firm, study the Word, and walk in your truth!

Thank you for an incredible month—see you in July!

I’m Annette

Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

This is a space for the ‘unspoken’ stories. As a Black woman who has journeyed through childhood trauma and family alienation to find healing in God’s grace, I know what it’s like to feel lost in the shadows.

But I also know the light on the other side. Today, my life is a testimony of prayer, the joy of a second chance in marriage, and the strength of a heart reclaimed by faith. Whether you are healing from the past, navigating a diverse family, or deepening your walk with God—you are not alone. Let’s walk this path together.
