The “Grand Rising” Delusion: Why We Must Stop Trading Facts for Foolishness

Hello from Colorado, where the peaks are tall, and my perspective is finally settling into a deep, quiet truth! Today is Thursday, June 25, 2026, and my faith is securely anchored in Christ Jesus! I’m so thankful you’ve joined me today as we look at how easily we can be tricked when we stop checking the receipts.

A few years ago, a DNA cousin of mine told me something that left me absolutely shocked. She told me she refuses to ever say the words “Good morning.” Why? Because she claimed that historically, slave masters used that phrase to celebrate a “good morning” to inflict pain on Black people. Instead, she insists on saying “Grand rising.”

When I heard that, my heart sank. It is a completely made-up internet rumor with absolutely no basis in historical facts or linguistics. Yet, she bought into it with total certainty without ever verifying it.

It is the exact same rhetoric spewed by the Hebrew Israelites. It’s the same “glazed-eye” trap: take a normal piece of language or scripture, wrap it in historical trauma, and present it as a “secret truth” that makes you look deep.

As a Black woman of faith, it gets under my skin and makes me deeply upset to see our people fall for this foolishness. We are a brilliant, resilient people. We should be wiser to these ploys! But when we allow emotional pain to override our common sense, we become easy targets for ridiculous narratives. God didn’t call us to walk around terrified of the words “Good morning” or chasing ancient ghost stories. He gave us a sound mind, and He wants us to use it.

The Takeaway for Us

  • The Danger of Unchecked Rumors: One recognizes that accepting sensational claims without verifying the facts doesn’t make you look “awake”—it just makes you vulnerable to deception.
  • The Weaponization of Pain: One sees how fringe movements use the very real trauma of slavery to make people reject normal, everyday realities, trapping them in constant anxiety and paranoia.
  • The Power of a Sound Mind: A believer learns that true spiritual maturity requires us to test everything by facts, history, and the Word of God, rather than swallowing emotional bait.

Community Challenge

Have you ever repeated a “history fact” or a religious theory just because it sounded deep, without actually researching it yourself? This week, I challenge you to look at the “receipts” of what you believe. Are you building your lifestyle on verified truth, or on internet rumors designed to keep you angry and fearful? How does your peace change when you trade foolishness for real wisdom?

Scripture & Prayer

  • Scripture: “And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”2 Timothy 4:4 (KJV)
  • Prayer: Father, forgive us for the times we have been lazy with the truth. Deliver our communities from the trap of emotional fables, fake history, and manufactured fear. Give us the wisdom to question the narratives handed to us on social media. Sharpen our minds, steady our hearts, and let us walk in the brilliant, clear light of Your factual truth and Your perfect love. Amen.

The Spiritual Seal

Remember: You don’t need a fake history or an alternative vocabulary to be dignified. God blessed the morning, and you can enjoy it freely. Stop letting internet myths rob you of your common sense; your worth is already signed, sealed, and delivered by the King of Kings.

See you tomorrow (Friday) for our final wrap-up!

I’m Annette

Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

This is a space for the ‘unspoken’ stories. As a Black woman who has journeyed through childhood trauma and family alienation to find healing in God’s grace, I know what it’s like to feel lost in the shadows.

But I also know the light on the other side. Today, my life is a testimony of prayer, the joy of a second chance in marriage, and the strength of a heart reclaimed by faith. Whether you are healing from the past, navigating a diverse family, or deepening your walk with God—you are not alone. Let’s walk this path together.
