Hello from Colorado, where the peaks are tall and my perspective is expanding into new territory! Today is Monday, June 8, 2026, and my faith is firmly secured in Christ Jesus! Thank you for joining me as we open up our second week of looking beneath the surface of the Hebrew Israelite movement.
Over the weekend, I was reflecting on why these high-pressure arguments are so incredibly sticky. Why do people cling to a historical myth even when you show them facts? I realized it’s because this ideology does something very powerful: it attempts to explain our pain.
Let’s be honest. The history of anti-Black racism, the horrors of the slave trade, Jim Crow, and modern systemic struggles are heavy, agonizing realities. It is deeply painful to look at that history and ask, “Why did this happen to us?”
The Hebrew Israelite doctrine steps in with an immediate answer. It points to the curses in Deuteronomy 28 and says, “We are suffering because we are God’s special, chosen people serving out a divine sentence.”
Do you see the psychological trap there? It actually feels better to some people to believe they are being punished by a loving God for breaking a contract than to face the cold, messy reality of human cruelty and racism. It turns a historical tragedy into a cosmic badge of honor. But as believers, we don’t need to wrap our historical trauma in a theological myth to make sense of our worth.
The Takeaway for Us
- The Need for an Answer: One recognizes that extreme ideologies thrive because they offer simple, spiritual explanations for complex, painful human suffering.
- The Cosmic Cop-Out: Turning systemic racism into a “divine curse” gives a false sense of control, but it ultimately distorts the character of God by making Him the architect of human oppression.
- Healing Without Myths: A believer learns that we can acknowledge the full, brutal reality of historical trauma without needing to invent a secret biblical pedigree to give our suffering meaning.
Community Challenge
When you face deep pain or historical injustice, do you look for a “secret reason” to make it make sense, or do you take it straight to the foot of the Cross? This week, I challenge you to look at the hard chapters of your past without trying to wrap them in a myth. Can you trust God with your pain without needing a conspiracy theory to explain it?
Scripture & Prayer
- Scripture:“Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” — Psalm 55:22 (KJV)
- Prayer:Father, we bring You the heavy history and the painful realities that our communities have faced. Heal the wounds of our past without letting us fall into the trap of false doctrines to cope with the pain. Help us to find our comfort in Your sovereignty and Your love, knowing that our suffering does not diminish our value in Your eyes. Amen.
The Spiritual Seal
Remember: You don’t need to turn a historical tragedy into a divine curse to prove you matter to God. He doesn’t punish your race to prove you are chosen; He chose you before the foundation of the world.
See you tomorrow (Tuesday)!
