Day Thirty Three – Removing Clutter

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Proverbs 31:10-31 NIV

When I was a young, single and a mom, I would pray the 31st Proverbs over my life. Then one day I realized God had fulfilled my request. I was alone when I discovered my prayer had been answered and I remember casting the sweetest smile of becoming one of my greatest desires. My children are grown and two of them live miles away from me. They are living their best lives as I seek to regain traction after my journey was interrupted by the foolishness of others. Yet, even on this stressful journey God is teaching me I must rejoice in good times and in bad times. Progress isn’t happening as fast as I would like but it is happening. Just the other day I decided to unload boxes [I stress boxes] of coupon finds of shampoo and conditioners to charities. Not sure of the recipients but I don’t have time to try and sell the items, as I need the space. Let’s pray!

PRAYER

Jesus, let us rejoice everyday in knowing you’re our shepherd! Amen

The Prayer’s of Black Men

October 16

Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

Joshua 1:6

This has been a stressful week. I had to overcome hurdles not of my own making. I had to find peace to quite the raging thoughts within. I had no prayer to share for the week and all I could do is ask God to “please help.” Today I opened my Facebook feed to something positive. A video of my friend and her husband singing in some type of Moroccan clothing. She sharing her travel experience is what the doctor ordered. Then to cap off my morning I came across a daily prayer from Consuello asking God for courage. His prayer was befitting for my week and days to come.

Pastor Consuello Hodges

Let us begin this Saturday morning in prayer! Father We come to You in prayer for courage. Courage to not only stand strong in Your Word, but to stand strong in actions. How can we be true examples if we are not displaying the courage in every word and step we choose to take. We pray for Your Strength in meekness and listening today. In Jesus Name. Amen.
