Day Four – Removing Mental Clutter

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:23

A few days ago, life felt intense! Two close friends shared their concerns about what is happening on Capitol Hill and how it could impact Black America. Each discussion ventured into unfamiliar territory. While I can put a face to what’s going on, I don’t fully understand the internal workings and couldn’t offer any comfort regarding our nation’s instability, except for giving personal advice urging them to keep striving for their dreams. That’s something I recommend everyone do in uncertain times. Let’s pray for positive outcomes in every situation.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, a spirit of discontent looms over America, wreaking havoc both within and beyond our borders. This spirit sows seeds of doubt, strife, envy, hatred, and self-righteousness, leading to reckless and abusive behavior among people. As a result, it robs us of dignity in our interactions, both publicly and privately. Lord, I ask you to bind this spirit and release the spirit of love—love for oneself, love for family, love for humanity, love for our country, and most importantly, love for you. Amen.

Day Two – Removing Clutter

Last night, I struggled to organize my donation and giveaway piles. My body was tired, but my spirit urged me to continue. While sorting my books, I discovered a small collection of poems by Helen Steiner Rice. Finding the tiny book of faithful gems prompted me to call a friend who used to own it. Our nearly hour-long conversation touched on my personality and the challenges facing dreamers. Yes, I am a dreamer.

I can generate brilliant and mediocre ideas, but I often struggle to realize my dreams. I’m not alone, and my shortcomings don’t always hold me back. When it’s time to act, God helps me fulfill His purpose, providing strength during challenging moments. As I write my truths, I know once again that I’m not alone; therefore, I encourage others facing similar struggles to join me in making positive changes to achieve an abundant lifestyle.

I have no prayers for today. Sorry. But! I’m sharing a poem of faith with the hope it’s inspirational. Have a great day living your best life! ~Annette

Climb ‘Til Your Dream Comes True

Often your tasks will be many,
And more than you think you can do.
Often the road will be rugged
And the hills insurmountable, too.

But always remember, the hills ahead
Are never as steep as they seem,
And with Faith in your heart start upward
And climb ‘Til you reach your dream.

For nothing in life that is worthy
Is never too hard to achieve
If you have the courage to try it
And you have the Faith to believe.

For Faith is a force that is greater
Than knowledge or power or skill
And many defeats turn to triumph
If you trust in God’s wisdom and will.

For Faith is a mover of mountains.
There’s nothing that God cannot do,
So start out today with Faith in your heart
And “Climb ‘Til Your Dream Comes True” !

– Helen Steiner Rice (1900 – 1981)
