Hello from Colorado, where the peaks are tall, and my perspective is sharpening by the hour! Today is Tuesday, June 16, 2026, and my faith is securely anchored in Christ Jesus! I am so glad you’ve returned to the blog as we continue our look at the “Reversal of Fortune” trap.
If you want to understand why the Hebrew Israelite desire for global dominance is flawed, you have to look at the people who tried the exact same thing during the time of Christ. First-century Israel was under brutal Roman occupation. The Jewish people were marginalized, heavily taxed, and stripped of their independence.
They were desperate for a messiah. But they weren’t looking for a savior from sin—they were looking for a military general.
They wanted a king who would ride into Jerusalem, smash the Roman legions, and put the Jewish people at the top of the global empire. They wanted a physical reversal of fortune. Sound familiar? It is the exact same blueprint.
But look at what Jesus did. When the crowds tried to force a crown onto His head, He slipped away. When He stood before Pontius Pilate, He didn’t make threats about a future earthly takeover. He looked the Roman governor in the eye and said, “My kingdom is not of this world.”
Jesus completely shattered their political revenge fantasy. He showed them that true power isn’t about gaining the ability to oppress your current oppressors; it’s about being entirely free from the system of oppression itself. When we dream of an earthly kingdom where our race rules the globe, we are begging for the very chains Jesus died to break.
The Takeaway for Us
- The Historical Repeat: One recognizes that the desire to use God as a tool for political or racial dominance is an ancient human temptation that Jesus explicitly rejected.
- A Different Kind of Kingdom: One sees that Christ’s kingdom doesn’t operate on worldly power structures. It doesn’t need to conquer nations or enslave enemies to prove its authority.
- The True Liberation: A believer learns that spiritual freedom in Christ is infinitely greater than political revenge. You don’t need a worldly empire to be victorious when you already share in His eternal victory.
Community Challenge
Are you looking for a Savior who fixes your political status, or a Savior who transforms your soul? This week, I challenge you to look at your expectations of God. Are you holding onto the hope of a worldly takeover, or are you ready to submit to a King whose power is made perfect in meekness and love?
Scripture & Prayer
- Scripture: “Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.” — John 18:36 (KJV)
- Prayer: Father, forgive us for trying to shrink Your global, eternal Kingdom into a small, earthly political agenda. Deliver us from the temptation to seek a savior who merely flips the tables of worldly power. Teach us the radical way of Christ—the way of humility, sacrifice, and spiritual authority that outlasts every earthly empire. Amen.
The Spiritual Seal
Remember: Jesus didn’t dodge the earthly crown because He was weak; He refused it because it was too small. Your inheritance isn’t a temporary throne in this passing world; it is a permanent citizenship in the Kingdom of Heaven.
See you tomorrow (Wednesday)!
