Hello from Colorado, where the peaks are tall and my perspective is firmly set on the horizon of Eternity! Today is Monday, August 10, 2026, and my faith is permanently secured in Christ Jesus.
Welcome to a brand-new week. Over the next few days, we’re going to look closely at the mechanics of spiritual survival. We’re going to take a closer look at the anatomy of a soaring eagle and what its imagery can teach us about navigating the storms of life. Life is volatile, unpredictable, and entirely too short to spend it cowering from every storm that blows through our lives.
Too often, when the clouds gather and the winds begin to howl, our immediate human instinct is to look for a hiding place. We search for temporary shelter, or we waste precious energy frantically flapping our wings, trying to fight the wind in our own limited strength. But God has designed a completely different blueprint for those who trust in Him.
Think about the eagle. When storms come, the eagle has become a powerful picture of what it means to rise above adversity. Rather than allowing the storm to determine its destination, it uses the wind to gain elevation. And isn’t that something we need to remember spiritually? The very thing that looks as though it could destroy us can become the circumstance God uses to strengthen us, position us, and lift our perspective higher.
The storm may be raging beneath you, but that doesn’t mean you have to remain underneath it. Sometimes, what we see as an obstacle is actually an opportunity for God to change our perspective. We may not understand why the storm has come, but we can trust the One who is with us in the middle of it.
As a continual student of theology—because although I didn’t finish the formal course, I still fiercely study the Word of God and continually open my Bible to seek His face—I have learned that God never wastes a storm. He can use what we thought would break us to teach us how to depend on Him, strengthen our faith, and draw us closer to His presence.
You do not have to be a helpless bystander to the chaos. Stop running from every wind. Stop exhausting yourself trying to control what only God can control. Set your spiritual wings, lean into your faith, and allow God to work through the pressure. The storm doesn’t have to be your final destination.
Sometimes, God will use the very winds you feared to lift you into a higher place in Him. The storm might be loud, the circumstances might be uncertain, and the path ahead might not be clear, but God is still God. He is still faithful, and He is still in control.
So as we begin this new week, remember this: Don’t just survive the storm. Let God teach you how to rise.
The Takeaway for Us
- The Launchpad Principle: One recognizes that adversity is not always a sign of defeat. Raging winds are often the exact mechanism God uses to lift us out of toxic environments.
- Setting the Wings: One learns that survival requires intentional positioning. We must consciously align our thoughts, boundaries, and faith with God’s truth to ride out the pressure.
- Higher Elevation: A believer understands that the ultimate goal is clear sight. When you rise above the storm, the noise, drama, and manipulation below lose all power to affect your peace.
Community Challenge
Take a hard look at the current storm brewing in your life right now. Are you exhausting yourself trying to fight the wind, or are you running to hide in a temporary shelter? This week, I challenge you to change your paradigm. Stop focusing on the darkness of the clouds and start setting your wings. What is one practical or spiritual boundary you need to set today to let this trial push you higher instead of pulling you down?
Scripture & Prayer
- Scripture: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
- Prayer: Father, thank You for being the source of my unshakeable strength. Forgive me for the times I have panicked in the face of raging winds, trying to fight the storms of life in my own weak strength. Teach me the anatomy of the eagle. Give me the spiritual wisdom to set my wings, lean into Your grace, and allow the pressure to lift me into higher ground. Anchor my spirit in Your peace, far above the chaos of this world. Amen.
The Spiritual Seal
Remember: The storm cannot ground you unless you allow it to dictate your flight. You were created for the heights, not the mud. Don’t let the noise below trap your spirit. Set your wings, trust the wind of the Holy Spirit, and soar! Have a powerful Monday—see you tomorrow!
