Yesterday I introduced John Hickenlooper as the first name on my 2026 election homework list.

Today, I want to talk about something I’ve found that I like.

It’s S. 5587, the National Critical Minerals Council Act.

Hickenlooper introduced this bipartisan bill to create a National Critical Minerals Council and develop a national strategy for critical minerals. The bill is designed to help strengthen America’s supply chains and reduce our dependence on foreign sources, particularly where our supply could be vulnerable.

Here’s what caught my attention.

Our country needs these minerals. We use them in things we depend on every day, from technology and vehicles to medical equipment and national defense.

But those resources come from somewhere.

If we need minerals another country has, I think we need to remember there are people living in that country too. Their resources have value.

So here’s my question:

If America needs critical minerals from other countries, how do we make sure the countries providing those minerals are treated fairly?

To me, building a reliable supply chain shouldn’t only be about getting what America needs. It should also be about building relationships that work for both sides.

That’s one thing I’ll be watching as I continue doing my homework on John Hickenlooper.

I don’t agree with everything a politician does just because I like one piece of legislation.

But when I find something I like, I’m going to say that too.

This is my vote, and I want to know what I’m voting for.

Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

This is a space for the ‘unspoken’ stories. As a Black woman who has journeyed through childhood trauma and family alienation to find healing in God’s grace, I know what it’s like to feel lost in the shadows.

But I also know the light on the other side. Today, my life is a testimony of prayer, the joy of a second chance in marriage, and the strength of a heart reclaimed by faith. Whether you are healing from the past, navigating a diverse family, or deepening your walk with God—you are not alone. Let’s walk this path together.
