Good day from Colorado, where we have blue skies nearly 365 days of the year! Thanks for stopping by my blog, where we discuss life, faith, and sometimes our walk with Christ.
When the woman at the well finally dropped her waterpot and ran back to town, she wasn’t running to hide—she was running to harvest. The very people who had made her “uncomfortable in her own skin” were the ones she invited to meet the Messiah. The NIV tells us, “Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony” (John 4:39).
Here is the “ten-ton brick” for your spirit today: The best way to handle a jealous critic is to become so successful that they have to come to your well for a drink.
For years, the sideline critics in her life thought they were the “know-it-alls.” They thought they were the ones with the “clean” jars and the “right” lives. But when the Living Water started flowing through her, she became the source of their deliverance. She didn’t remind them of their horrible behavior toward her; she simply showed them where the Water was.
When you stay at the forge and keep your many irons in the fire, God builds a life so stable and so blessed that eventually, even those on the sidelines will get thirsty. They will see the peace you have and the “blue skies” over your life, and they will realize their own buckets are empty. You aren’t “dumb” for being kind to those who were cruel; you are operating in a Kingdom success that knows how to turn a critic into a convert.
The Takeaway for Us
- The Ultimate Response: You don’t have to win the argument on the sidelines; you just have to win the harvest.
- From Outcast to Owner: The woman went from avoiding the town to leading the town. Your dream will eventually change your position.
- A Well of Mercy: True success gives you the capacity to feed and water the very people who tried to starve your vision.
Community Challenge
Have you ever had a “full circle” moment where someone who looked down on you eventually needed the very help or wisdom you provide? How do you keep your heart soft enough to offer them a drink from your well?
Scripture & Prayer
- Scripture: “They said to the woman, ‘We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.’” — John 4:42 (NIV)
- Prayer: Father, I thank You for the harvest. I thank You for making my life a well that is deep enough to serve even my critics. Give me the strength to stay in my calling until the results do the talking. I release all bitterness and I choose to walk in the success of Your mercy. Amen.
The Spiritual Seal
Remember: Your nets are full because your God is faithful. Don’t let the sideline critics talk you out of your harvest. See you Monday!
