Good day from Colorado, where we have blue skies nearly 365 days of the year! Thanks for stopping by my blog, where we discuss life, faith, and sometimes our walk with Christ.
When you meet the Messiah, your reputation doesn’t just change; it flips. For years, the woman at the well was the “talk of the town” for all the wrong reasons. The sideline critics used her history to keep her in the shadows. But after one encounter with Living Water, she didn’t just walk back to town—she ran.
The NIV tells us, “Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, ‘Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?’” (John 4:28-29). Think about the courage that took! She went straight back to the very people who had talked down to her. She wasn’t “uncomfortable in her own skin” anymore because she had been delivered from the weight of their opinions.
The very thing people used to mock her—the fact that she had “too many husbands”—became the proof of her miracle. She didn’t let the “know-it-all” spirits stop her shout. When you are building your dreams, some folks will try to remind you of who you used to be. But once you are walking in the Truth, your “shame” becomes your “shout.” You aren’t “dumb” for believing in a new beginning; you are a living testimony that the blue skies of grace are open to everyone.
The Takeaway for Us
- The Power of the Flip: God can take the very thing the sidelines use against you and turn it into your greatest strength.
- Leave the Jar, Keep the Voice: You don’t need your “old reputation” to have a “new impact.” Drop the jar and tell the story.
- The Best Evidence: Your joy is the loudest response you can give to people who expected you to fail.
Community Challenge
Have you ever seen God turn a “mess” in your life into a “message” that helped someone else? How do you find the courage to go back to the “town square” of your life and speak your truth after the sidelines have tried to quiet you?
Scripture & Prayer
- Scripture: “Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony…” — John 4:39 (NIV)
- Prayer: Father, I thank You for shifting my reputation. I thank You that the things the people sitting on the sidelines used to shame me are now the things I use to praise You. Give me the boldness to walk back into the places that once made me uncomfortable and speak the truth of what You have done in my life. Amen.
