“I am the dream and the hope of the slave.” — Maya Angelou

Good morning from the peaks of Colorado! Wow—what a journey this week has been. I sat down on Sunday with a heavy heart, questioning why we settle for the ‘crumbs’ of a 28-day history when we belong to a legacy that spans the ages. Today, I am standing in the sun, ready to claim the full loaf.

This week, we didn’t just talk about history; we did the hard work of soul-searching. On Monday, we faced the ‘stifled growth’ of trauma and chose healing. Tuesday, we leaped over the hurdles that once blocked our ‘Critical Thinking.’ Wednesday, we refused to let our ancestors stay ‘stagnant’ in textbooks, and Thursday—my favorite day of all—we honored the ‘Free Thinker in Bondage.’ We looked at a man who was treated as a commodity but thought like a king, leaving behind 300 acres of Louisiana soil as proof of his worth.

Ooo-wee! It has been a heck of a ride. Through these reflections, I’ve realized that an abundant life isn’t just about what we have; it’s about the mindset we carry. I am no longer that naive girl stuck in limbo. I am a woman recharged, standing on the shoulders of giants, and committed to leaving a legacy of inspiration for those who come after me. I hope this week has helped at least one person move out of the shadows of the past and into the light of their own powerful future. Let’s pray!

The Weekly Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for this week of revelation. We thank You for the courage to look at our ‘stifled’ places and the strength to leap over our hurdles. Lord, we thank You for the 3x great-grandfathers who taught us how to be free thinkers before we were ever free citizens. As we close this week, we trade the ‘crumbs’ for the ‘full loaf’ of Your abundance. May our lives become the 300 acres of blessing for the next generation. Keep us walking in the light of our true value. Amen.

Coming Monday!

We’ve spent this week claiming the ‘Full Loaf,’ but sometimes the biggest challenges to our peace live right next door. Next week, I’m putting the history books on the back burner to take a closer look at the ‘Fence, the Faith, and the Fido.’ We’re going to dive into a mini-series about the behaviors that ‘stick in my craw’—from $10,000 smiles to weaponized barking. Join me as we navigate the tricky waters of neighbors who use their faith as a shield while using their neighbors as a bank account. It’s time to talk about boundaries, ‘poor-mouthing,’ and why some dogs (and some attitudes) eventually come home to roost!

I’m Annette

Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

This is a space for the ‘unspoken’ stories. As a Black woman who has journeyed through childhood trauma and family alienation to find healing in God’s grace, I know what it’s like to feel lost in the shadows.

But I also know the light on the other side. Today, my life is a testimony of prayer, the joy of a second chance in marriage, and the strength of a heart reclaimed by faith. Whether you are healing from the past, navigating a diverse family, or deepening your walk with God—you are not alone. Let’s walk this path together.
