“People will ask you anything.”

I once heard someone say that, and it stopped me in my tracks. It made me realize how many times I’ve said “yes” simply because I was stunned by the audacity of the request. But here is the hard truth: self-care isn’t selfish; it’s a required defense against a world that doesn’t always know when to stop taking.

At some point, kind people—people like you and me—really need to stop the madness! We deserve to smell the roses of life, too. We spend so much time nurturing others that we forget our own gardens need water. Life is short, and as the years pass, that time feels even more precious.

You cannot pour from an empty cup. To give your best to the world, you must first be at your best. It is time to set the boundaries that protect your peace.

The Scripture

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

The Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me to recognize the value of the life and energy You have given me. Grant me the wisdom to set healthy boundaries and the courage to say “no” when my spirit is weary. Teach me to rest in Your grace, knowing that I am loved for who I am, not just for what I do for others. Amen.

I’m Annette

Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

This is a space for the ‘unspoken’ stories. As a Black woman who has journeyed through childhood trauma and family alienation to find healing in God’s grace, I know what it’s like to feel lost in the shadows.

But I also know the light on the other side. Today, my life is a testimony of prayer, the joy of a second chance in marriage, and the strength of a heart reclaimed by faith. Whether you are healing from the past, navigating a diverse family, or deepening your walk with God—you are not alone. Let’s walk this path together.
