QUESTION: Why would you ask God to show mercy to your enemy?

20 Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate appealed to them again. 21 But they kept shouting, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”

Luke 23:20

It’s been decades since I’ve read the story about the crucifixion of Jesus. After reading so much of Luke Chapter 23, now, I know why! It brings me to tears! How can people be unkind to each other? Aren’t we striving for the same thing such as living an abundant life? Life is so much easier when logic and understanding enters into relationships, business deals and or learning how to love one’s self. But it seems from rereading Luke Chapter 23, people have been repeating history in such a way that someone is always in the role of Jesus as others seek their demise. How! So! Horrible! And if you peel back the layers of unhappy people and get to the core of who they are naked in spirit, you’ll find jealousy, envy and everything else that goes with no hope. Let’s pray!

PRAYER

Father God, I’m sitting in the hot-seat like my Savior. I’ve done nothing. Yet, my enemies surround me as if I’ve started a war against them. Their evil actions at times scare me as my soul seeks safety and security that only you can give. So, why would I pray for my enemies and what would I ask you for? Well, Lord, I pray for your peace. For it’s clear to see everyone needs it in times where there is no hope. Amen

The Prayer’s of Black Women

They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, “May the king live forever! 10 Your Majesty has issued a decree that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music must fall down and worship the image of gold, 11 and that whoever does not fall down and worship will be thrown into a blazing furnace. 12 But there are some Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon—Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego—who pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They neither serve your gods nor worship the image of gold you have set up.”

13 Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. So these men were brought before the king, 14 and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? 15 Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?”

16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

Daniel 3:9-18 NIV

I selected to share the above verses because they show how far people will go when they are filled with unclean spirits such as jealousy, envy and greed. Let’s pray!

PRAYER

Father, thank you for this new day that has new opportunities. Fill me with your love as you protect me from the evils of my enemies. Amen

Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. Proverbs 2:11

Good morning, Lord.  Today, I humbly ask that you provide the US with a suitable laboratory.  Give the people there the courage needed to create and produce test kits for COVID-19.  America and it’s people need them badly!  If we had ample supply medical personnel could test people without question. Testing without question would ease the minds of many Americans.  We’re all scared Lord.  Please protect the county I love and the World.  Amen
