Should White’s Omit the “N” Word When Rapping

N Word Poll_edited-2When it came to formulating this quiz about who can say the ‘N’ word when rapping, I wish I could take credit for this thought-provoking question.  But I got quiz from a group I belong to on Facebook.  After reading the comments I thought it would be great to ask the public.

A Mother’s Love: Jeremy Meeks Greatest Supportor

To his mother, you are the reason these types of guys keep committing crimes. Stop babying your son and being an enabler! Nobody goes to jail for tattoos. Stop with the sob story about the job and kid. If he cared SO MUCH about his job and kid he’d stop committing crimes. Let him serve his time and learn a lesson. You’re being unjust to your son by not letting him pay the consequences for his actions. Let him grow up and take accountability! Raise money for starving kids and stop conning people into posting your criminal sons bail.

Jeremy Meeks’ story is the tragic story about a young man’s life hanging in the balance.  It’s a story that has left many American’s clueless about why his mother is asking for donations to pay for her son’s legal expenses.  It’s a story that has made women (and probably some men) make fools of themselves in social media settings.  But what make this a truly sad story are the cruel words written to a mother that is trying to give her son another chance.

Let me first say this, I’m not supporting the cause but I understand a mother’s love.

I must admit when I saw his picture, I thought he was good-looking!  His blueish-gray eyes go well with his caramel skin tone.  His facial profile is defined with hard masculine outlines; while his lips are the right size of thickness for kissing all night long.  He was indeed blessed by God to be eye-candy for the women.  And, let’s just say the young pup took this old and very season woman back to her fun filled days of youth for a moment.  But then reality sunk in and said, “Wait!  There’s gotta be more to this man than just his looks!”

So, I began to research the newest pretty face to fame.  And what I learned about him was this:  he had a criminal past, he spent time in prison, he once lived in Washington, he has a tear underneath his left eye, he has all sorts of tats, he is married, he has a son, he got caught in a car with known gang members along with firearms and ammo, his bail was set for $1,000,000, his mom says her son has changed his life, he is innocent and was on his way to work.

Bail!  $1,000,000!  Wow!

Now why is his bail set for $1,000,000?!!!  Don’t you think a million dollar bail is a lot of money for just a nobody that was on his way to work?  Why was he driving a car with firearms and ammo knowing his situation?  Com’on!  This is no kid of teens!  Don’t you think a man of 30 that has served time in prison is acquainted with the ways of the world?  As why a logic person would ask why were his passengers gang affiliated?  Why was he seen leaving a house that was under surveillance?  And what was it being surveillance for?  Whose car was he was driving?  Because if the car belong to another, why didn’t he catch the bus to work?  And what’s up with the teardrop underneath the corner of his eye?  Why haven’t the name of his employer or his profession been released?  I mean a list of questions could go on and on about his arrest.  But . . .

What makes people feel justified in judging his mother?  Why do people feel she’s the reason for his poor decision making skills at 30 years old?  And what does the commenter mean by “these types of guys?”

A mother’s love is a mother’s love.  It was created before children were placed into wombs. It has no boundaries on how it will protect its young.  It sometimes goes without questioning and often makes mistakes in well doing.  Honestly, it throws out logic when caring for its young.  But nevertheless it is still a mother’s love.

Throwback Thursdays: Barbara Billingsley on Jive Talking

Well I learned something new today!

I learned that most black people speak Jive.  This coded language that has unified American black people for decades is now called slang.  So far Jive remains unrecognized by most as a survival language that is mostly spoken among blacks.  The funny thing is Jive is a language that has been passed down from generation to generation despite educational successes within the black community.  Yet, society continues to equate this language with ignorance.  When in fact Jive is probably the first unity language created in America.

Thou I try to remove the jargon from my vocabulary I must admit it makes me feel whole when I am with other blacks.  Honestly, knowing slang/Jive helps me to contact to a group or race of people who are rejected by society.  And perhaps that’s why so many young men and women from other races try to learn it.

Maybe the young got it!  Maybe they realize Jive is a unity language that connects dislocated people.  I’m just sayin’ . . . maybe all young people feel dislocated in some fashion.  So to connect they speak slang.  Hum . . .

The Prayer’s of Black Women: Restoring the Heart of America

Well, Lord, I have finally gotten up from the couch.  Mostly because your spirit has urged me to write a pray.

But, Lord, I feel torn about what I should pray.  There are so many life situations that need your help.  So, again, I feel torn about what I should pray about.  However the situation that seems to be heaviest on my heart is the spiritual and cancerous choice of Americans.

The choice to remove you from our country is drowning this wonderful nation in the pool of political correctness; thus, giving birth to spiritual chaos.

We have taken you out of everything!  We have taken you out of our governmental institutions, our business, our schools, our churches, our homes, our children, our families and our daily actions.  And because we have taken you out of everything we are now experiencing the following:  high unemployment, high divorce rates, high rate of children born out-of-wedlock, high rates of child exploitation’s, extreme amounts of mental illness, and people having disregards for life.

Sadly, Lord, as we the American people bicker over small things such as who should or should not get married.  Or should the NRA step in and help make stiffer laws for obtaining firearms!  Or if a black man is making good or bad choices up on Capitol Hill!  Lord, the country that I love is quickly falling into a perilous state.

Lord the catalyst for what is happening in America is our ease in removing you from our lives!  It’s not the black man up on Capitol Hill!  He’s just one man!  It’s not Joe marrying Johnny or Susan marring Sally!  And it’s certainly not mandating tougher gun laws!  It was removing you!

Lord, the American people need to hear from you!  We need to hear from the God that got this American party started.  We’re a young nation.  And we’re making our fair share of mistakes.  But, Lord, the biggest mistake we have made thus far was removing you!

I’m praying for my country.  I’m asking you for your mercy upon me and my country.  I’m asking you God to show us how to repair our relationship with you.  I’m asking you to forgive the arrogance of the American people.  I’m praying that you will do a historical roll call in their minds and in their hearts.  I’m asking Lord that they remember the blood that was shade for our freedoms; and how you fought along the men that were fighting for all to be freed men and women.  I’m asking you to remind them that our ancestors came here to freely worship you.  I’m asking you to remind them this country was born from a divine dream and supported and encouraged by spiritual God.

For George Santayana once wrote, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”  And in Numbers 14:26-38 people perished and wondered in the wilderness because they had lost faith in you and your abilities to create a new land for a people of promise.  Lord, help the country that I love.  Heal the heart of this country because America is a land of promise and we are a people of promise.

Your Loving Daughter,
Annette
